Day 2: A Journey in the Land of Juice…and Fasting

Well readers…I’m pretty darn hungry. Although, I’m happy to report that Day 1 of the juice fast went off without a hitch.
Armed with Bentonite Clay (which in my delirium I’ve been calling benZonite all over Twitter) and Mulitdophilus 12 that I picked up at the local food co-op, I managed to survive the evening (usually = TV and dinner time) without deviating from the juice/water plan.
Bentonite is a clay that has been used for centuries by indigenous tribes and animals for internal healing and detoxification. Taken internally, liquid bentonite supports the intestinal system in the elimination of toxins. Liquid bentonite is inert which means it passes through the body undigested.
I bought about an ounce of Bentonite for $.50 and mixed half a teaspoon in water. It tasted strange- like soil flavored water- but wasn’t too chunky ’till the bottom. It definitely had a calming effect on my stomach, which by about 6 p.m. was wondering WTH was going on!
The Multidophilus 12 (by Solaray) includes twelve of the most important strains of beneficial bacteria. Probiotics are intended to provide nutritive support for the normal absorption of nutrients in the digestive tract. Since fasting is essentially suspending digestion and hopefully cleansing the digestive system, of both bad and good, it is important to keep a healthy communtiy of beneficial bacteria in circulation.
So far today, I feel a little woozy…not faint- but empty and slow. No searing hunger pains yet though. I’m going to try to be better about getting my 64 ozs. of juice in today though, yesterday I only had about 40.
And the fast continues…
