Day 1: A Journey into the Land of Juice…and Fasting..
Well, loyal readers and anonymous lookers-on- I have decided to embark upon a strange and possibly terrible journey. A juice fast.
Spurred by a desire to be healthier and cleanse my body after the ravages of the holidays, and a morbid fascination with seeing just how much abuse this amazing bag of organs can endure, I researched (a little) and then embarked on this experiment just this morning. And of course, I assumed you’d want to come a long.
For the next 3 (hopefully) days, I’ll be posting updates of how I’m feeling and what I’m consuming. All accounts that I read of others who’ve tried similar fasts raved about the results and generally feeling refreshed and healthier, and I hope to report the same.
I’ve modified the idea of the juice fast just a little, although, contrary to what the name suggests, all other juice-fasters seem to have included supplements like organic tea, and raw fruits and veggies into the diet.
So far today, I had a giant cup of Guayaki Organic Greener Green Tea (a blend of green and yerba mate teas) and, when I started feeling the usual noontime stomach rumblings, I started in on a 16 oz. glass of organic apple juice. Juice fast guidelines call for no more than 64 ozs. in a day, so I’ve got a couple more of those to look forward to.
Feel free to post encouragements, critcisms, personal experiences and general “what the *@&*#&$* are you thinking” comments on this blog througout.
